Clean Skincare Basics: Transitioning to Sustainable Beauty Products

Making big changes to our everyday routines can be overwhelming to say the least. Yet, the key to success is found in small consistent changes that you enjoy. For instance, when we first started making more clean sustainable swaps in our home, we switched from store bought soaps to homemade foaming pump soaps.

All you need for this are some foaming pump bottles, Castille Soap, distilled water, vegetable glycerin for moisturizing, and essential oils for fragrance (if desired). All of these items can be purchased on Amazon or natural stores. This easy swap ended up being fun to customize the different scents, and very cost effective!

In order to make a consistent change, it has to be something that is easy and that makes you happy. Switching from bottled lotions that were made with 70-90% water was not sustainable, and did not bring me joy. Enter in the Hand Stone Solid Lotion bar. This was a game changer for me. Not only did I feel good about going plastic free in my beauty products, but I loved the experience. Gliding the cocoa butter lotion bar on my skin after a shower felt so luxurious and nourishing to my skin, and the cocoa butter smell just added to the whole evening routine. You know when you're a little kid and you get that chapstick that tastes like Coca Cola, and all you wanna do is add on another layer of chapstick? That's exactly how I felt when switching to the Linen & Sash Hand Stone Lotion Bar.
